Watch: Pres. Obama Drops Truth Bomb On Republican Budget
President Obama tore into Republicans for their disingenuous attempt to cut the deficit by handing out billions in tax cuts to the super wealthy.
Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd at a community college in Birmingham, Alabama, the president went after the Republican budget.
“It represents the opposite of middle class economics” Pres. Obama said, “because it would hand out new tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires,” but let taxes go up on students and families; all while drastically cutting funding for education and doubling the number of Americans without health insurance.
The president then dropped a truth bomb on the audience about a more recent Republican proposal that would cost $250 billion and apply only to the top 1/10 of one percent of Americans.
“In Alabama, this new tax cut they’re proposing… it would average $2 million per person in tax cuts and it would apply to less than 50 people here in Alabama.”
“Fifty,” Pres. Obama emphasized as the crowd laughed at the absurdity of the Republican policy.
