Trump FURIOUS As Texas’s Most Influential Conservative Paper Endorses Hillary

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just landed her second major media endorsement in Texas, this time from the Dallas Morning News. The  declared their recommendation in favor of the Democratic nominee. The proudly conservative Morning News serves the region’s 5.5 million residents and has endorsed every Republican Presidential nominee since World War II – until Donald Trump came on the scene.

Hillary Clinton has spent years in the trenches doing the hard work needed to prepare herself to lead our nation. In this race, at this time, she deserves your vote.

We’ve been critical of Clinton’s handling of certain issues in the past. But unlike Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton has experience in actual governance, a record of service and a willingness to delve into real policy. Resume vs. resume, judgment vs. judgment, this election is no contest. In Clinton’s eight years in the U.S. Senate, she displayed reach and influence in foreign affairs. Though conservatives like to paint her as nakedly partisan, on Capitol Hill she gained respect from Republicans for working across the aisle: Two-thirds of her bills had GOP co-sponsors and included common ground with some of Congress’ most conservative lawmakers.

Readers may recall that the Houston Chronicle also endorsed Clinton last month, an unusually early endorsement, and the Dallas endorsement also comes fairly early, since it is before the three presidential debates scheduled for later this month. After yesterday’s brutal condemnation of Donald Trump as “no Republican” from the Dallas Morning News, it appeared that they might stay within the #NeverTrump camp and simply denounce their own party’s horrid presidential nominee, but instead they offered an unambiguous set of reasons above why they chose to endorse and presumably vote for Hillary Clinton come November 8th.

The Dallas Morning News editorial board went on to dismiss the mantra favored by jaded Americans – “she’s the lesser of two evils” – which juxtaposes a dedicated and lifelong public servant unfairly smeared against a decidedly terrible businessman, whose history of “deals” can be traced through the trail of lawsuits clogging court dockets across the country.

We reject the politics of personal destruction.

Clinton has made mistakes and displayed bad judgment, but her errors are plainly in a different universe than her opponent’s. Trump’s values are hostile to conservatism. He plays on fear — exploiting base instincts of xenophobia, racism and misogyny — to bring out the worst in all of us, rather than the best. His serial shifts on fundamental issues reveal an astounding absence of preparedness. And his improvisational insults and midnight tweets exhibit a dangerous lack of judgment and impulse control.

The Dallas Morning News’ conclusion couldn’t be clearer: “There is only one serious candidate on the presidential ballot in November. We recommend Hillary Clinton.”
