Pence Just Threw Trump Under The Bus, “I’m Offended, Cannot Defend Him”
Donald Trump’s vile, sexist comments are so offensive that his own party is forced to look away at the spectacle of his actions. Republican vice presidential nominee, Mike Pence, cannot even talk his way out of Trump’s hi-jinks, and released a damning statement on Saturday telling America that even he is “offended” by the misogynist comments that the candidate made in 2005, literally saying, “I cannot defend them.”
Pence’s feeble attempt at apologizing for his running-mates actions:
“As a husband and father, I was offended by the words and actions described by Donald Trump in the eleven-year-old video released yesterday. I do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them,” he offered. “I am grateful that he has expressed remorse and apologized to the American people. We pray for his family and look forward to the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart when he goes before the nation tomorrow night.”
After a non-stop barrage of statements that have divided the nation, in a way that is not only critical but also self-reflexive, we are left thinking, who could possibly side with this man? How can Trump take lead us into the future considering his past, very public debacles and embarrassments? Who is on this bandwagon? We are in opposition like never before; with the Trump mouthpiece reflecting the thoughts of the other side of our country.
Trump is known for saying whatever he wants, but his words amount to more than just “words for words sake” or a Howard Stern type of callousness that we can attempt to leave at face-value (excuses like, he has a daughter, do not apply here). He clearly views women as nothing more than sexual objects, and is the paradigm of sexism; the joke is that he is running against a highly competent woman—perhaps no one has ever been more qualified for POTUS than Hilary. And yet she is being threatened by a blatant misogynist, bragging about “being allowed to grab women by the pussy” because he is in Hollywood, or a position of power.
What are you going to do as leader of the free world, Trump? Grab women in every nation by their private parts because they cannot physically make you stop? In less than a month we have a choice. Go with the qualified, female candidate or side with the crazy, white male who is even a parody of white maleness to other white males.
Even his own Vice President has no words.
