An Investigation Just Found Trump Lied, NEVER Donated to 9/11 Charities
Turns out Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, Mr. Billionaire, Mr. Patriotism, didn’t donate a thin red dime to any 9/11 charities — despite promising to donate $10,000 — according to new analysis of financial records.
The amount itself seems paltry for a man who has no lack of affection for his own alleged wealth, but apparently $10,000 was too much for the faux-tanned businessman to cough up. One might assume Trump would have been more generous with a pledged contribution to the city where he had done business for decades that found itself under attack. To Trump $10,000 is the literal equivalent to $1 to an average American. Could you imagine making a spectacle about donating a dollar to charity, demanding fanfare, only to then welch on your obligation? Welcome to Trump’s world.
The New York Daily news filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the New York City Controller’s office to locate Trump’s alleged donation. City Controller Scott Stringer’s office issued a statement regarding their findings:
For the periods covered by the audits, we did not find any record of a donation from Trump himself or a Trump entity to either the Twin Towers Fund or the New York City Public/Private Initiatives Inc.
A review of the Trump Foundation’s records of financial disclosure found the only money they had donated to 9/11 related causes was $1,000 to a Scientologist relief group which was backed by Tom Cruise…because why not?
One only need look at Trump’s attempts earlier this year to manipulate the public through his faux-patriotism. In April 2016, while visiting the 9/11 museum Trump made a grand show of donating $100,000. As Trump is more about image rather than substance, there is no reason to believe he donated anything back in 2001. There is absolutely zero evidence to corroborate Trump’s donation of which he uses to sap praise from Americans for his perceived patriotism. This entire matter could be cleared up if Trump would be so gracious as to offer a receipt or a form showing he made such a donation, but as is par excellence with Trump he has not offered any form of rectification. Trump could also simply release his taxes, where the donation would have been absolutely reported. Yet, according to Trump, the American people should just take his word for it.
