We must learn from this experience, and we must remain united and steadfast in our devotion to the ideals of liberalism and tolerance. The Democratic Party suffered a devastating blow last night, the blame – of which there is plenty – goes to many.
In the face of astonishing opposition, we must double down on our principles and fight to protect the rights of women, the civil liberties of American minorities, for the well-being of the working class, for organized labor and for religious pluralism. We must return to our leftist roots and rid ourselves of the corrupting taint of corporate influence.
We must remain strong. This war is only just beginning.
