Obama Just Showed Trump How To Deal With China Like An Adult
The Pentagon just announced that China has agreed to return an American unmanned underwater vehicle a day after the minor incident blew into an international confrontation when Donald Trump issued a series of inflammatory and typo-ridden tweets. In an example of President Obama’s even handed approach to international affairs, and although a Trump, a private citizen, tried to cause an international incident, he successfully de-escalated the incident as quickly as it began using diplomacy rather than Trump’s dangerous macho-man approach, the New York Times reports:
“Through direct engagement with Chinese authorities, we have secured an understanding that the Chinese will return the U.U.V. to the United States,” said Peter Cook, the Pentagon press secretary, using initials to refer to the Navy’s unmanned underwater vehicle.
Mr. Cook said the deal had been reached after the United States “registered our objection to China’s unlawful seizure of a U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle operating in international waters in the South China Sea.”
The Chinese authorities told American officials that they planned to return the drone, but the two sides were still working out where, when and precisely how the device would be handed back, said two Defense Department officials, both of whom would talk about the negotiations with China only on the condition of anonymity. One of the officials said the Pentagon expected the matter to be resolved in the coming days without further acrimony.
Meanwhile, Trump allowed his business conflict of interest in Taiwan to enrage China and threaten the American economy and global stability. Surprisingly, it was revealed that Republican elder statesman Bob Dole is a foreign agent for the Taiwanese government and setup the phone call which to cause a conflict with America’s largest trading partner.
