His Boss Joined Trump’s Team, So He Wrote This Epic Resignation Letter

Donald Trump recently held a round table with a slew of CEOs from giant technology corporations – and his daughter, and his sons – after which he offered some of those involved spots on his transition team. The heads of Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Cisco, Amazon, and Oracle, to name a few, were all in attendence at the meeting which some decried as an exposure of “the rotten heart of Silicon Valley.

Donald Trump isn’t a regular president. He represents the very worst qualities and beliefs of American society, and to consort with him is an implicit acceptance of those hateful values. Some of the richest and most influential men and women in America bowed down before the new despot – and had nothing to say when it was all over.

Some even decided to collaborate with him. Safra Catz, the CEO of computer technology corporation Oracle, has accepted a position on Trump’s transition team. “I plan to tell the President-elect that we are with him and are here to help in any way we can. If he can reform the tax code, reduce regulation and negotiate better trade deals, the US technology industry will be stronger and more competitive than ever.” said Catz before the meeting, nearly salivating at the prospect of arranging some tax breaks and rewriting those pesky regulations that protect workers’ benefits and safety.

Their employees, on the other hand, aren’t as accepting. Executive George Polisner, who had put 23 long years of dedicated work at Oracle, abruptly quit in protest. He penned this moving missive and published it on LinkedIn:

Safra,

You were recently quoted “I plan to tell the President-elect that we are with him and are here to help in any way we can.” prior to joining the Trump transition team.

Based upon Trump’s own words and validated in his Cabinet selections he will seek to dismantle Social Security and Medicare –important retirement security for our aging and disabled population.

Trump stokes fear, hatred and violence toward people of color, Muslims and immigrants. It is well-known that hate crimes are surging as he has provided license for this ignorance-based expression of malice.

He disrespects Gold Star military families, women and the disabled.

He seeks to eviscerate environmental protections, the public education system, LGBTQ rights and women’s rights.

His tax and economic policies will greatly increase the national debt while concentrating wealth –exacerbating an alarming growth of wealth inequality in America.

I began with Oracle in 1993 and was proud to work among some of the best software development and operations engineers in the world. I’ve made significant contributions to Oracle along the way in my various roles ranging from consulting, product development, customer advocacy, program management and now in Cloud.

I am not with President-elect Trump and I am not here to help him in any way. In fact –when his policies border on the unconstitutional, the criminal and the morally unjust –I am here to oppose him in every possible and legal way.

Therefore I must resign from this once great company.

We applaud Mr. Polisner for bravely putting his career at risk in order to make a powerful statement like that. We must oppose Trump at every turn; obstruct and protest everything he tries to do. Even relatively small acts such as the one undertaken by Polisner are symbolically powerful in pushing back against the tyranny of Trump.
