Democrats Just Got Under Trump’s Skin With One Simple Slogan
Trump’s only plan for healthcare in America is to make us sick. This simple truth flustered the president-elect, who reacted to the slogan penned by House Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), “Make America Sick Again” with a Twitter rant. Trump’s evident lack of any kind of replacement healthcare plan is more than worrisome—it is literally sickening.
In typical toddler fashion, Trump lashed out at Democrats regarding Obamacare, singling out Schumer. Trump’s early-morning rant went as follows:

Just a few months ago he was complimenting Schumer, now he is the “head of the clowns.” His record on healthcare is even murkier. In spite of Americans generally being in favor of Obamacare and the fact that no one is uninsured is a net positive—Trump wants to tear the system down with absolutely no clear alternative. When House Speaker Paul Ryan was asked about Obamacare he trailed off, offering no clarity. “We have a plan to replace it,” he said ambiguously. “We have plenty of ideas to replace it and you’ll see as the weeks and months unfold what we’re talking about replacing it with…”
This echoes other Republican members of Trump’s team who are stumped when it comes to a national insurance policy. In spite of Mike Pence’s claims on 60 minutes that Obamacare would be “simultaneously” replaced as it is repealed, and that this is “the first order of business,” with about two weeks to go until inauguration nothing has been offered – as nothing has been offered for the past five years, which has seen over 60 attempts to repeal the healthcare bill.
A visit to Trump’s campaign page regarding his thoughts on health gives the impression that we are in for a repeal well before the “replace” comes into play. “Block-grant Medicaid to the states,” he advocates, which would give states power to insure their residents over the government– and millions would lose their Medicaid coverage as a result. The government would no longer be responsible for its citizens, as it has been under the Obama administration.
This is a dire situation, and the rallying cry of “Make America Sick Again” has clearly touched a chord with Trump, who knows that is exactly what his administration will do. It’s only a matter of time, and it will likely be a short time, before his blind legion of followers realizes that he is not going to make life better for anyone—he is going to set us behind decades in almost all aspects—from immigration to the environment, but healthcare, in particular, will suffer. Maybe these followers will wake-up when a loved one can no longer afford their medicine and gets gravely ill as a result. Maybe that’s what it will take for them to finally recognize that Trump is a stain on our nation.
