A Badly Burned Infant Was Just Separated From His Parents By Trump’s Muslim Ban

With each passing day, the human cost of Donald Trump’s appalling Muslim travel ban becomes impossible to ignore. Families are being torn apart as children are stranded from their parents, as husbands and wives are separated and their jobs and possessions fall into jeopardy.

One story of a boy from Massachusettes perfectly encapsulates why Trump’s tyrannical order is such a horrifying and unnecessarily heartless display of xenophobia and racism.

Dilbreen is a year and a half old. He was badly burned when a heater exploded in his tent while in an Iraqi refugee camp. An aid group quickly got him and his family visas and rushed him to the Shriner’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Dilbreen’s father flew back to Iraq to be with his mother, who was giving birth to Dilbreen’s new brother – a boy who was named Trump.

His family hoped that President Trump would bring an end to the wars. Instead, he tore their family apart.

Dilbreen is now staying with a family in Michigan while he waits to have his second surgery, without his parents to care for him and without ever having met his new brother. There’s no telling when he’ll get to see them again.

This is what Trump’s hateful executive order does. Babies are left without their parents because Donald Trump wants to use xenophobic dog whistles masquerading as national security concerns to install a white supremacist agenda. It is a slap in the face to human decency and human empathy and the values our nation was founded on. Only a true sociopath devoid of consideration for anyone but himself could possibly justify this abomination.
