Today President Donald Trump met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for meetings about the role of women in the workforce and a joint press conference (video below). The press conference was awkward, to say the least. Trudeau has already made pointed attacks at Trump’s signature ‘Muslim ban’ – a travel ban targeting seven majority-Muslim countries that the courts have since struck down. He condemned Trump’s signature xenophobic fear-mongering about refugees and reached out to the displaced and endangered people of the world:
To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada

During the press conference the two men tried to talk about things America and Canada, historic allies, have in common. They struggled. Trudeau is a thoughtful and conscientious progressive while Trump is a bigoted ignoramus and their policies are a million miles apart.
Trudeau exuded confidence and intellect, speaking smoothly and calmly in both English and French. Trump, meanwhile, slurred words when he read from a script and ad libbed his way through the question and answer time by adding “very very” to every sentence and saying vague things about terrorism.
Twitter had a field day with the cringe-worthy press conference, eviscerating Trump and lauding Trudeau. Twitter users certainly had a lot of material to work with, and the reactions they came up with did not disappoint:
Trump seems confused by French-speaking Trudeau. It's like watching a dog who knows a few words. He looks up when Trudeau says "Trump"

Trudeau is bilingual. Trump is barely monolingual. #pressconference

Trudeau is trying so hard to not to ask Trump, “How the hell did you get here?! Talk like an adult!” #PressConference

Does this press conference end with Trump killing and consuming Trudeau to absorb his life energy?
