Trump Just Attacked The FBI On Twitter For Doing Their Job

This morning President Donald Trump had yet another Twitter outburst, this time directed towards the FBI. Trump alleges that leakers are present within the government and the FBI and that the agency is unable to locate them.

This comes in the wake of news that the FBI rejected a White House request to publicly refute reports about communication between Donald Trump’s campaign staff and Russian intelligence officials during the 2016 election campaign.

The White House has allegedly been seeking help from the FBI and other agencies investigating the Russian hacking scandal to back them up in saying the reports are fake. Direct communication between the White House and the FBI is strange as it violates proper procedure, which limits communications with the FBI on the subject of pending investigations. The FBI, by refusing to comment, is following the correct procedure, which apparently isn’t okay in Trump’s fantasy world.

Sean Spicer, White house Press Secretary, was defensive last night when asked about the communication, saying:

We didn’t try to knock the story down. We asked them to tell the truth.

Justice Department procedure memos issued in 2007 and 2009 limit direct communications between the White House and the FBI on pending investigations. The memo says that communication should only occur when it is important to the president’s duties and when it is appropriate from a law enforcement perspective.

This is the latest episode in Donald Trump’s feud with U.S. security agencies. Trump has made intelligence leaks a subject of his Twitter wrath in recent weeks and now seems to have the FBI in his sights, despite the fact that some could argue they help him win the election with their investigation into Hillary Clinton’s e-mails.

Trump has given us yet another example of why he is unfit to be president: he clearly doesn’t understand that he has to follow regulations and procedure, and thinks it’s okay to attack those that do. All the FBI was doing was following the law by refusing to make comment on ongoing investigations. You’d think that, after over a month in office, Trump would finally start to understand how being a president actually works. Unfortunately, he’s spent most of his time tweeting or golfing instead of doing any real work and now thinks he can use taxpayer funded agencies for his own political gain. Wrong!
