A Top Putin Official Just Praised Trump’s Speech For A Disturbing Reason

President Trump and the media are having a field day over last night’s joint address to Congress. Trump is reveling in the positive media coverage, the media is fawning over him in a shameful attempt to get back in his good graces, and all is well in Washington for one day.

But a different kind of celebration is being held in Moscow, where Russians are relieved that Trump didn’t mention Russia, or the Russian interference in the 2016 election, or the Trump campaign team’s secret communications with Russian officials.

In fact, Trump didn’t mention Russia once during his lengthy speech, even though Russia’s aggressive expansionism in Eastern Europe and in the Middle East is one of the biggest threats facing America, our NATO allies, and the geopolitical status quo as a whole.

“Trump’s performance in Congress stood out due to self-restraint, balanced tone and absence of vicious nonsense toward Russia that was common for [former President] Obama” cheered Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov, of dictator Vladimir Putin’s United Russia political party.

Pushkov also took some shots at the Democratic Party in his tweets on the subject. “Democrats accuse Trump of ignoring the ‘Russian threat.’ This was all that Obama and [Hillary] Clinton thought about … Didn’t help them during the election.”

Russia’s heavy military presence in the Baltic regions is extremely worrying for Eastern Europe and our NATO allies.

Just a few weeks ago, Russia unveiled a newly developed long-range ballistic missile launcher that violates arms-reduction treaties signed between the United States and Russia; the Trump administration did nothing.

Russian forces have been actively shelling Ukrainian government forces for weeks now, killing dozens. That aggression has also been met with silence from the White House.

In response, NATO forces – including the United States – have deployed the largest contingent of armed forces in Eastern Europe since the end of the Cold War – some 3,000 men and 3,500 vehicles.

‘What we are putting in place is four multi-national battle groups in direct response to Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and the destabilisation of Ukraine’ says NATO spokesperson Dylan White.

Tensions are flaring high in Europe and the situation may be quickly spiraling towards a conflict – but the White House has nothing to say on the matter. Could that be because President Trump is being blackmailed by the Kremlin? Or is it simply a reward for Russia’s interference in the 2016 election?

Here are Senator Pushkov’s original tweets; translation via The Hill.
