Paul Ryan Just Revealed He’s Been Plotting To Gut Medicaid Since College

College can be a stressful time, what with all of the early morning classes and overdue papers. Students traditionally blow off steam at weekend keggers where they drink, dance and flirt so they can forget their troubles.

For young Paul Ryan, however, college keggers were a place to dream about an Ayn Rand-inspired societal overhaul. Ryan’s dreams for the future included the nightmare scenario that he now finds himself in a position to make a reality, wrenching healthcare from the lives of millions of Americans facing financial difficulties to satisfy the unholy demands of objectivist free marketeers.

Speaking at the National Review Institute’s Ideas Summit in Washington D.C. today. Ryan told Rich Lowry, the current editor of the long-time Conservative publication founded by William F. Buckley:

“So Medicaid, sending it back to the states, capping its growth rate. We’ve been dreaming of this since I’ve been around — since you and I were drinking at a keg. . . . I’ve been thinking about this stuff for a long time. We’re on the cusp of doing something we’ve long believed in.”

The Congressional Budget Office estimated earlier this week that the so-called Trumpcare bill as currently drafted would cause 24 million people to lose their health insurance by 2026. 14 million of those losses would be due to cuts Ryan is planning to the Medicaid program.

The negative reaction to the bill from people all over the country, who are just now realizing the deadly implications of the Republican repeal and replace rhetoric, has led many people to dub the measure the Republican Insurance Plan (R.I.P.).  In fact, according to ThinkProgress:

An estimated 17,000 will die who otherwise would have lived in the first year Ryan’s health bill is in effect, should it become law. By 2026, that number will grow to 29,000 deaths in just one year alone.

For Ryan, a nominal Catholic whose positions on feeding the poor and healing the sick are diametrically opposed to anything resembling Christian values, this bill may be the fulfillment of his lifelong dream, but if he’s successful in actually getting this heartless death sentence of a bill enacted, many devout Catholics and other true Christians will surely be petitioning Pope Francis to have this hypocritical House Speaker excommunicated. Maybe Ryan can dream about that at the next Congressional kegger.
