Senator Feinstein Just Hinted Trump Is Headed Towards Impeachment
The ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Diane Feinstein, recently held a fundraiser in Los Angeles – and was met with protesters demanding a town hall when she emerged.
Instead of turning tail and fleeing like most Republican legislators, she stood and spoke with the crowd, listening to their concerns – before dropping a tantalizing nugget that could have colossal implications.
Yesterday, Feinstein met with FBI Director James Comey to discuss President Trump and the various investigations into his affairs.
She looked shaken and “white as a ghost” when she emerged from the meeting, but would not give any details at the time.
Today, one of her constituents asked her about the meeting and about Trump’s conduct in general, and how we would start going about impeaching him:
You just looked white as a ghost yesterday when you came out of that meeting. And we don’t know what’s happening. But we know that he is breaking laws everyday. He’s making money on Mar-a-Lago. He’s getting copyrights in China. He has obvious dealings with Russia. The Dakota pipeline. There’s so many things he is doing that are unconstitutional. How are we gonna get him out? That’s what I want to know.
Feinstein’s response will make you hopeful for the future:
Well, we have a lot of people working at this. Technical people. And I think he’s gonna get himself out. I think sending sons to another country to make a financial deal for his company and then have that covered with government expenses — I think those government expenses should not be allowed…
Let me finish. We are working on a bill that will do that now. We’re working on a couple of bills that would deal with conflict of interest. It’s difficult because this is a field that relates to some extent to the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution. And there’s no preceding legislation to do this. But we’ve got good people looking at it. And we’re going to some of the ethicists along the line.
I’ve been doing what I do for a long time and I’ve never seen anything like this.
President Trump has been violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution since the moment he was inaugurated. He has refused to divest himself from his businesses, uses taxpayer money to send his sons on Trump Organization business trips, holds meetings at his private Mar-a-lago club every weekend…the list goes on and on.
Corruption and nepotism has been the Trump modus operandi for decades. Let’s hope it will finally bring him down.
