Obama Officials Took Drastic Steps To Protect Russian Hacking Docs. From Trump

In the last days of Barack Obama’s presidency, officials scrambled to protect critical evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 election from the incoming Administration. It is widely accepted that the Russian state did attempt to sway the election in favor of Donald Trump, although the extent and efficacy of the efforts are up for debate.

An anonymous former White House official told NBC that after the team created a list of serial numbers to chronicle every key classified document about the Russian election interference, he personally carried the documents to senior members of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The documents now reside in an Intelligence Committee safe.

There are also copies of the documents at CIA headquarters, but the Obama Administration did not trust Trump and his cronies to maintain them. To ensure that no evidence was compromised, the official said they felt the need “to share it with those on the Hill who could lawfully see the documents.”

The official said that this move would make it “harder to bury” the evidence.

Thanks to brave, last-minute efforts by the Obama team, there is a good chance that the extent and effects of Russian meddling will be exposed and the Trump team will be brought to justice.
