Trump Just Reignited His Feud With Mitch McConnell Hours After Saying They’re “United”
President Trump apparently got his phone back from General Kelly this morning, because a frustrated nation woke up to a whopper of a Trump Twitter rant.
In an absurd recounting of all the trials and tribulations of Donald J. Trump, the president fired off a volley of passive-aggressive attacks with all the faux-politeness of a child staring at the dirt as he’s forced to apologize for striking a peer.
Starting off, Trump opened his morning Twitter set with his hit single, “Fake News Media:”
The Fake News is now complaining about my different types of back to back speeches. Well, there was Afghanistan (somber), the big Rally…..
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 24, 2017
..(enthusiastic, dynamic and fun) and the American Legion – V.A. (respectful and strong). Too bad the Dems have no one who can change tones!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 24, 2017
Before moving on to trashing the former Director of National Intelligence, presumably for his television appearance in which he said that “I really question his ability to be — his fitness to be — in this office.”
James Clapper, who famously got caught lying to Congress, is now an authority on Donald Trump. Will he show you his beautiful letter to me?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 24, 2017
As usual, Trump is insinuating that Clapper had praised him in the past, further compounding his hurt feelings at an apparent betrayal.
Then without any prompting or any obvious connection to the previous tweet as if he’s just furiously firing off his grievances as soon as they pop into his head like a six-year-old playing a deeply unhinged game of Charades, Trump threw fresh fuel on the cooling fire of his feud with Senate Leader Mitch McConnell.
The only problem I have with Mitch McConnell is that, after hearing Repeal & Replace for 7 years, he failed! That should NEVER have happened!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 24, 2017
Just a few hours after the McConnell camp and the White House exchanged peace offerings and declared they were “united,” Trump went back to blaming McConnell for failing to repeal the Affordable Care Act, despite having done nothing to aid him while the vote was taking place.
Another astonishing start to another day on the Trump train. Given the fury of this morning’s rant, it’s going to be a doozy.
