Trump Just Gave A Disgusting Excuse For Today’s Decision To End DACA
Today, President Trump revealed that he is ending President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), which protects from deportation 800,000 youth who have committed no crime but calling the United States of America — the country where they were raised — home.
This afternoon, for the first time since making his decision, Trump faced questions from journalists about his cruel act, and he did not make things better for himself. (Video below.)
“I have a great heart for the folks we’re talking about, a great love for them,” Trump said of the 800,000 people he is threatening with deportation.
Trump then corrected what he believes to be a misconception about his victims.
“People think in terms of children, but they’re really young adults,” the president told journalists, seemingly trying to diminish compassion for those afraid of losing the only way of life they’ve ever known.
With more than a quarter of a million innocent individuals and families coming under sudden threat, Trump’s decision to split hairs over irrelevant technicalities is a disgraceful distraction. Americans deserve a president who considers the impact of their decisions on their lives.
And so do dreamers.
