BREAKING WIND! — Trump slammed for retweeting a vulgar trending hashtag this morning

The nation is falling apart — rife with hurricanes, wildfires, and pestilence, bursting with violent political and racial tension, divided by culture wars — and Donald Trump is retweeting one of the top trending hashtags on social media: #FartingSound.

Sign the petition to tell Mitch McConnell: No vote on a new Supreme Court Justice until after inauguration!

Scrolling through the president’s Twitter feed, the post barely sticks out like a sore thumb amidst the lies about Democrats coming to take away your 2nd Amendment rights, declarations about replacing the late, much lamented Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a justice committed to eliminating women’s reproductive rights, and other ploys to convince voters to give him a second term.

It’s unclear if Trump even noticed the onomatopoetic hashtag since the obvious attraction of the post for the president was the video of a figure with an eye-glass-wearing cat’s head affixed to their body, jet-packing over water while holding a Trump banner.

At least one Twitter commenter thought that the Republican president should have better things to occupy his mental space than fart sounds.

Sadly, even though the connection between the #FartingSound hashtag and the attached video was obscure, it was among the most intelligent posts in Trump’s Twitter feed this morning, which was populated with attacks on his political rivals and the media, pats on his own back, and those all-caps, Tourettes-like outbursts  of “LAW & ORDER” and “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

Yes, it’s come to this.

The most truthful thing tweeted by the president of the United States today was a retweet of a #FartingSound hashtag. Here’s the original post in its full glory.

It’s time for a new president.

Go out and vote as soon as your state allows you to.
