GOP Senate candidate’s press secretary busted insulting Georgia “rednecks” in unearthed tweet

As Donald Trump continues his vociferous loser’s tantrum with no concession imminent, most people are assuming that — whether he has to be dragged kicking and screaming from the White House or sullenly sulks out the back door in disgrace — Joe Biden will be the 46th President of the United States.

The real political action has shifted from the desperate GOP lawsuits challenging the legitimacy of the ballot counts to the Senate runoff elections in Georgia that will take place in January.

The winners in Georgia runoffs will determine whether President-elect Biden will have a Democratic majority in that legislative chamber that can help him begin to reverse the damage that his predecessor instigated and to pass the long-stalled pandemic relief bill that has been prevented from even being brought up for debate by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

One of the two incumbent Republican senators from the state trying to retain their seats after failing to reach a 50% majority in the recent election is Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) who is running against Reverend Raphael Warnock, the senior pastor of Atlanta’s renowned Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Loeffler is considered particularly vulnerable in the runoff because, as a wealthy WNBA franchise owner appointed to her seat by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp after former Senator Johnny Isakson resigned for health reasons, she has never actually run in or won an election previously.

She also gained considerable notoriety when it was discovered that she divested herself of millions of dollars worth of stock in companies that were vulnerable to business downturns during the COVID-19 pandemic after receiving a private briefing of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions on the spread of the disease, before the news of the enormous risk that the virus posed was divulged to the public.

With Loeffler’s personal ethics as deplorable as this insider trading episode demonstrates, it comes as no surprise that the people she hires for her staff are equally condemnable.

Loeffler’s press secretary Caitlin O’Dea has recently come under scrutiny on social media after a number of her old tweets resurfaced that exhibited a frightening level of condescension towards Georgia and the subsection of its inhabitants that typically vote Republican, generally a poor mindset to exhibit when your boss is struggling to win their votes in a state where Biden eked out a win against Trump in a surprising flip of a state that has been won by Republicans in most recent elections.

Add your name to tell Trump: You Lost! Concede!

Loeffler seemingly likes to hire people who could be her doppelganger, both physically as well as in their political attitudes, since O’Dea’s blond hair and thin lips could make her a body double for her boss.

Apparently, O’Dea’s animosity goes beyond a snobbish scorn towards its less sophisticated citizens and extends to her tweeted beliefs that have raised accusations of racism, homophobia, and Islamophobia…at least before she locked her Twitter account and deleted a selection of her old posts.

Luckily, a researcher who posts as Resist Programming on the social media platform managed to preserve examples of the Loeffler press secretary’s tweets that demonstrate how perfectly her attitudes fit in with the Republican Party of the Trump era.

Here’s a selection from the lengthy thread that Resist Programming posted back at the start of Loeffler’s senatorial campaign back in August for your edification.

Not even O’Dea’s mother is spared from her omnivorous hatred nor are her fellow blonds or people who may be carrying a few extra pounds.

It’s said that a politician can only be as good as the staff that they hire to support them.

With Caitlin O’Dea running her communications strategy, Senator Loeffler gives Georgia just one more reason to reject her candidacy and elect Rev. Raphael Warnock to take her place in the senate.

Then both Loeffler and O’Dea can retreat back into their homes where they won’t have to interact with rednecks, gays, Muslims, or anyone else who doesn’t look, act, and think like themselves.

In the meantime, progressives need to do everything that they can to help Reverend Warnock and the other Georgia senatorial candidate Jon Ossoff win their runoff elections in January, either by voting, if you live in Georgia, or by volunteering for and/or contributing to their campaigns if you are an out of state resident.
