Rep. Matt Gaetz tells supporters that the “Florida variant” has infected his brain
It’s not often that a politician self-owns the way that Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) did yesterday at a campaign event on the “Freedom Tour” that he has been participating in along with QAnon queen Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
Backed by the ominous image of Donald Trump’s horrific visage — accompanied by the outright lie of signs proclaiming that “Trump won” — Rep. Gaetz mouthed off about his conspiratorial view that the mainstream media is promulgating paranoia about the dangers of the hyper-contagious Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus.
“You’ve had all the experts say look out for the delta variant or the lambda variant, well next it’ll be the Chi Omega variant or the Pi Kappa Psi variant. I got the Florida variant,” Gaetz proclaimed, in a tacit acceptance of his role as the quintessential “Florida man.” ”
“I got the freedom variant,” he continued. It affects the brain. It gets you to think for yourself where you don’t just surrender to the truth that they’re trying to create in corrupt big media.”
While it’s fairly obvious the Gaetz’s brain has been affected by something, it’s unlikely to be related to any of his fictional COVID variants.
The punchline-free joke was particularly offensive given the fact that the state that Gaetz represents in Congress just suffered an all-time record-breaking number of COVID-19 cases recorded in a single day since the beginning of the deadly pandemic.
Critics on social media savaged the accused sex offender viciously for his seeming mocking of the seriousness of the public health crisis in his home state.
Gaetz is a disease.

Rep. Gaetz doesn’t seem to be winning himself very many new fans with his detestable rhetoric.
Hopefully, the indictments against him for allegedly transporting a minor across state lines for sex will quickly be issued, and he will be removed from Congress expeditiously soon afterward.
