In what he called an “open letter to Karl Rove,” Glenn Beck did something one would never expect from the conservative host. After announcing his departure from his beloved Republican Party because he feels it has “gone soft”, Rove had a few choice words of his own — leading Beck to return fire.
“They set us up. Enough is enough. They’re torpedoing the Constitution and they’re doing it knowingly,” Beck said. “They’re taking on people like Mike Lee and Ted Cruz and they are torpedoing them–knowingly. And these guys are standing for the Constitution.”
Both Lee and Cruz signed the controversial and illegal letter to Iran that a.) violated the Logan Act, b.) embarrassed our nation by demonstrating that at least 47 of our lawmakers do not understand the Constitution, and c.) blatantly stated that the United States can not be trusted. In the letter, Cruz, Lee, and the others promised that they (and any future Republican Presidents) would do all they could to ensure that a peaceful nuclear resolution does not happen.
“They are not good. And you see it now,” Beck said, urging listeners to “run” from the GOP.
Rove pointed in an appearance on the O’Reilly Factor out that Beck was not a Republican to begin with, noting multiple occasions in which the Blaze founder admitted he was not a Republican — even a time when Beck celebrated the “death” of the GOP in 2013. “This is old news,” Rove told O’Reilly.
After Rove spoke out, Beck announced that it’s on!
“You want to rumble Rove? Come on to my show and let’s have it out,” Beck wrote in a Facebook post.
“Bring it on.”
In the post, he wrote, “You guys have the spine of a worm, the ethics of whores, and the integrity of pirates. (My apologies to worms, whores and pirates).”
“It is sad that you can no longer hear the American People because they could save you. Instead you listen to your political consultants and the amazing thing is you still believe all of it,” Beck added. “Can you not smell what you are shoveling anymore? The world has changed. The whole world is being redesigned. Not by government but by dreamers and doers…”
“You just continue to shine up the progressive agenda of people like Jeb, pressure, corrupt or threaten freshmen and smear the good people of this country who believe in the actual principles enshrined in the constitution,” Beck accused.
“You have gone from being a man I thought was a good guy to a sad and quickly forgotten figure of the past,” Beck told Rove. “It is never to late to change. You just have to be willing to admit your mistakes and live by principles. I have done so. When will you?”
Interestingly, this was one of the few times Beck has been correct. Compared to the Tea Party, for instance, anything to the left of Hitler is “progressive lite,” as Beck classified the GOP.
