In this video, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid fires back at Republican criticisms and dismisses the whole field of 2016 hopefuls as a bunch of “losers”. His opponents across the aisle have been entertaining offensive theories about how Reid “really” sustained the eye injury that has forced him to wear sunglasses to protect his recovering vision.
“Why in the world would I come up with a story that I got hurt in my own bathroom with my wife standing there? How could anyone say anything like that?”
When queried further, he slams his Republican counterpart, Mitch McConnel, for being a “lump of coal” (an apt analogy considering the Kentuckian’s love affair with the fossil fuel industry) and when asked which of the Republican 2016 candidates would be the eventual nominee, Reid responds with this gem: “I don’t really care…they’re all losers!”
Reid is right on the mark with his criticism. The Republican 2016 candidates have all presented themselves as walking carbon copies, capable of only spouting the same repetitive talking points about “religious freedom”, second amendment rights, climate change denial, and denying rights to gays and women. In a 2016 America, their obsession with a vision more appropriate to 1950 is nothing but a losing strategy.
