Watch: Obama Shames FOX News For Constantly Demonizing America's Poor

In this clip, President Obama calls out FOX News for spinning false narratives about America’s poor and denounces their efforts to villify the working classes. At the Catholic Evangelical Leadership Summit on Poverty, Obama takes aim at the conservative media networks:

“I think the effort to suggest that poor are sponges, leeches, don’t want to work, are lazy, are undeserving, got traction. And it’s still being propagated. I have to say, if you watch Fox News on a regular basis, it is a constant menu.”

It is without a doubt one of the most regular themes in FOX’s propaganda book. In order to sell delusional falsehoods about the free market, they take aim at the victims of income inequality and blame them for their own poverty, when the truth is the modern American economic system has abandoned them and rerouted that money to the top 10% of Americans.

Obama then takes shots at the ridiculous segments on FOX where they somehow find examples that prove their narratives: “They will find folks who make me mad…”I don’t want to work, I just want a free ‘Obamaphone’, and that becomes the narrative, but you never see an interview with a waitress, who is working three jobs trying to raise a couple of kids, doing everything right but still can’t pay the bills.”

“It’s hard to change those conceptions because it’s a much broader conversation than one sees on the nightly news” he concludes.
