Cheney: Forget My Iraq War, It's Hillary's Charity That 'Needs To Be Investigated'

In one of the most ridiculous developments coming out of the already absurd right-wing propaganda operation, former Vice President and admitted war criminal Dick Cheney has called for an “investigation” into the Clinton family’s finances. In an appearance on AM 970‘s “The Cats Roundtable” radio talk show, Cheney took the opportunity to take cheap shots at President Obama’s pragmatic foreign policy and at the Clintons, attempting to add his perverse two cents into the fake scandal that FOX News and the conservative media machine has concocted to smear Hillary’s campaign with.

“I think what the Clintons are getting away with in terms of the foundation and money and hundreds of thousands of dollars for speeches and all the rest of that. There’s serious problems there that need to be investigated.”

The hypocrisy is incredible. While he attempts to throw shade at a charitable foundation and a prominent politician’s speaking gigs, the fees for which are donated to said foundation, one should be asking where the investigation into Dick Cheney’s personal finances is. The shadowy neo-con engineered the misinformation campaign which pushed our nation into the worst foreign policy disaster endured in a generation and cost our nation trillions of dollars and thousands of lives.

Cheney’s Halliburton made $39.5 billion in profits from that war- how much of that went in his pockets? Nobody knows. We do know that under Dick Cheney’s tenure, Halliburton’s offshore tax subsidiaries went from nine to forty-four, and their headquarters moved from Houston to Dubai in another effort to dodge American taxes. We do know that Halliburton’s KBR subsidiary received a no-bid contract to repair Iraq’s oilfield infrastructure, and in total was handed $16 billion dollars in US government contracts from 2004-2006. The Army Corps Of Engineers’ top civilian contracting official, Bunnatine Greenhouse, said that “the abuse related to contracts awarded to KBR represents the most blatant and improper contract abuse I have witnessed during the course of my professional career.” For that statement, he was promptly demoted, despite his stellar work record.

So tell us, Mr. Cheney. Where is the investigation into the blatant tax evasion that you committed during your tenure at Halliburton? Where is the investigation into the corruption surrounding KBR’s work in Iraq? Where is the investigation into the Energy Task Force which you were using to investigate the Iraqi oil fields in the months leading up to the war? Where is the investigation into KBR’s Saudi contractors that were paying their workers slave wages? Dick Cheney is in no position to be calling for an investigation into anything except his own rap sheet and the crimes that have been committed under his command across the world during the past thirty years.

If anyone should be calling for an investigation, it’s the families of the 4,491 US soldiers that lost their lives in a useless war that Cheney started for profit.
