Watch: An Emotional Jon Stewart Is Left At A Loss For Jokes Over Charleston Shooting

In this clip, Jon Stewart of the Daily Show has a powerful message about the Charleston shootings that occured Wednesday evening. The normally uproarious funnyman is appropriately somber and serious when discussing such a depraved act of violence, and makes some really strong points about the attack.

He highlights the absolute disparity in the “response to foreign people who want to kill us and our own people who want to kill us,” criticizing the Republican need to send men and drones and bombs overseas to do war with foreign nations, even tortuting people, but when it occurs in America: “What are you gonna do? Crazy is as crazy is?” he asks in a painful mockery of the right-wing gun advocates.

“I hate to even use this pun, but this one? Is black and white. There’s no nuance here” says Stewart, addressing the awful racism that motivated the shooter to do what he did. “The Confederate flag flies over South Carolina, and the roads are named for Confederate generals,” says Stewart “and the white guy is the one who feels like his country is being taken away from him.”

It’s the most logical, measured, and brutally honest statements on the attacks that the media has produced all day. You must see it.
