Republican presidential candidate and America’s biggest embarrassment, Donald Trump, continued his rampage of ignorant bigotry this weekend. Trump had campaign stops in California, Arizona and Nevada starting on Friday and he left a trail of ignorant comments along the way. During one of his stops he reportedly told a crowd of conservative, immigrant-hating supporters that instead of invading Iraq, we should have gone to war with Mexico.
Trump has risen to right-wing fame when he decided to make immigration his campaign centerpiece. He kicked off his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists and murderers, claiming that our neighbor to the south only sends its worst citizens across the border. He used the random murder of a tourist by an undocumented immigrant in San Fransisco to validate his claim.
His xenophobic, hate-speech has caused the conservative base to flock to him; last week he shot up to number one in the polls. His sudden rise in the polls proved what we have been saying all along: the Republican base is filled with racist fools.
On Friday, the egomaniac gave a public speech at the Beverly Wilshire, where he was surrounded by people who claimed their family members were killed by undocumented immigrants, he said that he had a “great respect” for Mexico:
“The problem is the country of Mexico has leaders that are far smarter than our leaders. Far more cunning than our leaders,” he said. “Their negotiators are much better than our negotiators. And they’re sending people into our country, that we don’t want, but we take. And that they don’t want.”
Later that night he was singing a different tune. Trump gave a speech to Hollywood conservative group Friends of Abe and according to a source in attendance he told the crowd that the United States should have never invaded Iraq, because Saddam Hussein was a buffer with Iran. Instead, he said,”we should have invaded Mexico.”
If that is Trump’s way of showing “respect” I’d really hate to see what he would do to people who he has no respect for.
That wasn’t all of the crazy he had to offer this weekend. When he heard that “El Chapo,” Mexico’s biggest drug lord had escaped from prison, he told Twitter that Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush would probably negotiate with the drug lord, but,”Trump, however, would kick his ass!”
It’s pretty hilarious that Trump is claiming that he would do anything to “El Chapo” when he called the FBI and whined that he was receiving death threats. According to Trump, the drug lord contacted him through Twitter and threatened him.
He keeps saying that America is being overrun by Hispanic criminals who are destroying our country because our border isn’t secure, but that is just an incredible lie. First of all, the border is more secure than it has been in 40 years. President Obama had deported more undocumented immigrants convicted of crimes, than any other president in history; and immigrants are not all criminals. As a matter of fact, they are less likely to commit a crime than their American counterparts.
According to the Immigration Policy Center:
“But harsh immigration policies are not effective in fighting crime because—as numerous studies over the past 100 years have shown—immigrants are less likely to commit crimes or be behind bars than the native-born, and high rates of immigration are not associated with higher rates of crime. This holds true for both legal immigrants and the undocumented, regardless of their country of origin or level of education.”
So Trump can keep spewing his hateful, factually empty garbage to throngs of racist fans, but that will not get him elected. He somehow is operating under the delusion that his bigoted words will somehow win him the critical Latino vote, but in reality he’s killed not only his shot of the winning their votes, he has ensured the GOP will lose them as well. The only thing Donald Trump is good for is making sure that Democrats once again win the White House in 2016; so really, I guess we should all thank him for his service.
