Top Hillary Adviser: John Boehner Is A 'Lazy Alcoholic' With Repulsive Personal Behavior

John Boehner is not exactly known as a beloved figure in Congress, either by his peers or his constituents. His 25% approval rating is partially explained by new revelations from the Clinton email files, which had some surprising information within them. Yesterday, the conservative columnist for The Weekly Standard, Steve Hayes, asserted in an interview on Fox News, that the set of Mrs. Clinton’s emails to be released that day “will only put the candidate deeper in hot water.” However, the hot water has fallen on another- an article today, also from Fox News, spells it out quite clearly: “Longtime Clinton adviser Blumenthal slammed Boehner as ‘alcoholic’ and ‘lazy’ in email.”

According to today’s article, one of the emails in the newly released set was sent to then-Secretary of State Clinton (who was at the time flying to New Guinea) from Sidney Blumenthal, her longtime confidante. Blumenthal’s email noted that the Republicans had taken control of the House, and he described them as being “captive to the swamp fever of the extreme right,” advising her of the election results after the November 2010 mid-terms.

The email describes then-House Minority Leader Boehner as “despised by the younger, more conservative members of the House Republican Conference. They are repelled by his personal behavior.” In the email, Blumenthal decried Boehner as “louche, alcoholic and lazy.”

Blumenthal compared Boehner to Gingrich, who took to be “the natural leader of a ‘revolution’”, but suggested that Boehner was “careworn and threadbare, banal and hollow, holding nobody’s enduring loyalty.” Obviously, history over the past 5 years has shown Sidney Blumenthal’s astute observations of Boehner and the Republican Party to be truthful.

As one might expect, Mrs. Clinton did not comment directly on Blumenthal’s specific comments about Boehner, which were part of a longer email containing his political observations about the election – only to say “Thx, as always, for your insights…Needless to say, I’m so distressed over all of this.”

It’s clear that the “dirt” in the Clinton emails has been exposed- just not how Mr. Boehner expected it. The recent attempts by Tea Party upstarts in the House to depose Mr. Boehner is proof enough that the insinuations about his caucus’ loyalty to him are confirmed. It is far beyond time that we replaced this obstructionist and deeply partisan ideologue with someone who will actually work to make government run smoothly and move progress forward in our nation.
