Second House Republican Confesses Benghazi Investigation Was A Clinton Witch Hunt (AUDIO)

Another House Republican has admitted that the numerous “investigations” into Benghazi have been simply a disgusting partisan attempt to demonize Hillary Clinton and knock her down in the polls. America had little doubts as to what the real purpose was, but it is absolutely shocking that not one, but two Republicans would actually be honest about their decision to waste millions of taxpayer dollars effectively investigating an opposing political figure.

Before Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) abruptly dropped out of the race to replace outgoing, orange-skinned John Boehner as Speaker of the House, he admitted that he and his fellow Republicans have been using your tax money to gather dirt on Hillary Clinton. In an interview with FOX, McCarthy admitted that the Benghazi hearings were simply a series of slaps to the faces of the four men who lost their lives on September 11, 2009:

“What you’re going to see is a conservative Speaker, that takes a conservative Congress, that puts a strategy to fight and win. And let me give you one example. Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee. A select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable [sic]. But no one would have known that any of that had happened had we not fought to make that happen.”

Though the Majority Leader later tried to walk back his remarks, the cat was out of the bag, so to speak. On Wednesday, Republican Rep. Richard Hanna (R-NY) said that McCarthy was right in the beginning.  In an interview with New York morning show Keeler in the Morning, the Congressman explained:

“Sometimes the biggest sin you can commit in D.C. is to tell the truth. This may not be politically correct, but I think that there was a big part of this investigation that was designed to go after people and an individual, Hillary Clinton.”

“After what Kevin McCarthy said, it’s difficult to accept at least a part of it was not,” Hanna said, indicating that he was displeased with the lack of evidence the investigations have turned up. “I think that’s the way Washington works. But you’d like to expect more from a committee that’s spent millions of dollars and tons of time.”

The use of taxpayer resources for partisan gain is nothing new to Republicans. Recently, 23 GOP Congressmen and women found themselves the subjects of a complaint filed with the  House Office of Congressional Ethics alleging that they used taxpayer resources to partner up with and provide inside information to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Perhaps it is time for Democrats to launch their own investigation — into the Benghazi hearings themselves. It’s not like there will be a shortage of evidence. They can begin by speaking to a former investigator with the House Select Committee on Hillary Benghazi who recently claimed he was terminated for refusing to focus solely on Hillary Clinton rather than the truth.

As we allow the sideshow to continue, the Benghazi hearings have dragged on longer than the Watergate probe. It’s time that Americans stand up to this and other gross misuses of power on the part of Republicans. We can start by demanding investigations and hearings of our own, but the most important thing we can do is make sure we are at the polls next year. It is imperative that none of these corrupt individuals are re-elected. Period.
