In this hilarious clip, beloved political comedian Steven Colbert, now the host of the Late Show, takes Sarah Palin to task for her offensive and discombobulated ramblings that somehow added up to an endorsement speech of Republican front-runner and unabashed racist tycoon, Donald Trump.
Colbert, invigorated by the sight of a familiar foe, channels some of his classic Colbert Report energy in a brutal dissection of Palin’s speech. His excitement is visible from her first words, breaking into a voice-breaking high-pitched rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s hit Since U Been Gone. “GOD have I missed you! It’s like a magical eagle made a wish on a flag pin and it came to life! Which is great…for ME! For while Trump admittedly has given me so much material to make jokes about, nobody compares to the original material girl!”
He then goes through and mocks some of the stranger things that the Tea Party extremist had to say, some gems of which include:
“Wearing political correctness like a suicide vest!”
“He doesn’t get his high off of opium! Other people’s money!”
“Right-winging bitter clingin proud clingers of our guns our god and our religion and our…Constitution?”
After watching her speech, Colbert’s excitement is suddenly very understandable. Enough time has passed that we have forgotten just what an incoherent and raving lunatic she really is, and to see her again in all her “uuuuhhhhs” and “uhhhhmmmms” and “drill baby drill!”
Stephen finishes with an absolutely hilarious parody of her speech, a spoken-word/deaf-poetry monologue that perfectly encapsulates her inability to form basic sentence structures, her penchance for rhyming, and her inability to focus on a single subject. It’s a must watch!
