Nevada’s infamous freeloading “welfare rancher” Cliven Bundy, the father of the jailed “militia” leaders responsible for taking over a federal wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon for the past 40 days, was arrested by FBI agents in Portland, Ore. late Wednesday as he got off a flight from Nevada.
The FBI also confirmed Cliven Bundy’s arrest, and the fact that he is now facing federal charges related to the 2014 standoff at his ranch, where his supporters aimed machine guns at federal agents and threatened an armed insurrection if engaged.
While the Bureau of Land Management said at the time of the 2014 standoff that welfare queen Cliven Bundy owed over $1 million in fees and penalties for trespassing cattle on federal property without a permit over 20 years, he tried to squirm out of paying them by refusing to acknowledge federal authority over public lands.
The standoff began after the Bureau of Land Management impounded Bundy’s cattle that were found illegally grazing on federal property without paying dues. However, federal agents eventually backed down and allowed Bundy’s supporters to turn the cattle loose.
The charges include conspiracy to interfere with a federal officer, the same charge lodged against two of his sons, Ammon and Ryan, for their role in the domestic terrorism at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
The four remaining fools occupying the refuge promised that they will soon turn themselves in Thursday morning.
