In this heartwarming clip, President Obama addresses a group of young leaders and shares with them some sage advice about their futures, about parenting, and about making the most of our lives. He warns us to be skeptical – but not fall victim to the cynicism that has dogged his eight years in office.
He also stresses the importance of preparing for the future, admitting that he worries if his kids will be able to enjoy the same experiences that he did, will be able to enjoy the same kind of world that he did. That’s why it’s so crucial that we deal with climate change now, before it’s too late and we no longer have much of a world to save.
It’s a wonderfully eloquent little speech that really highlights what a man of incredible character. Not only does he have the fortitude to deal with intransigent Republican on a daily basis, he has a finely-tuned moral compass and a heart of gold that Americans will surely miss once he’s out of office.
