On Tuesday, the New York State Supreme Court ruled that the ongoing lawsuit against Republican front-runner Donald Trump and his elaborate scam known as “Trump University” will proceed to trial. Students at the “university” – which was forced by a New York court to rename themselves to the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative because it was too misleading to call themselves an institute of learning – are suing Trump to the tune of $40 million for taking their money for a useless “diploma” that has absolutely no value.
“I am very pleased the judge has indicated her intention to move as expeditiously as possible to trial, as thousands of Mr. Trump’s alleged victims have been waiting years for relief from his fraud. We believe that Mr. Trump and Mr. Sexton will be essential witnesses at trial. As we will prove in court, Donald Trump and his sham for-profit college defrauded thousands of students out of millions of dollars” said Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
In keeping with the flagrant narcissism which defines Trump and his “businesses,” Trump attempted to start his own “university” where he would teach students his “investing techniques” and how to get “rich” like him. It is unclear if any of those lessons involve “getting a small loan of a million dollars from your father” – or whether they let the students know that “no major US company has filed for Chapter 11 more than Trump’s casino empire in the last 30 years.”
Trump has been desperately trying to have his cake and eat it too by adamantly refusing to settle with the people he ripped off but desperately trying to sweep the lawsuit (and the two class action suits currently filed against him in California) under the rug. The 7,000 “students” at Trump “University” learned the hard way about how Donald evidently made his fortune- by misrepresentation, extortion, and illegal business practices. This isn’t even the only case being filed against Trump With luck, justice is finally coming for the rabble-rousing demagogue – and as the citizens of five states set to cast their votes today, it couldn’t have come at a more opportune time.
