Earlier today, at the anti-Trump protests in Burlingame, California, Al Jazeera Plus captured an iconic image of an adorable young boy holding a sign that ironically read “Make America Mexico Again,” probably in reference to the large swathes of territory that the United States seized from Mexico during the Mexican American War 1846-1848.

The response from conservatives on Twitter was horrifying, laying bear the heartless radicalization of Trump supporters. They see no problem in demonizing a little child and dutifully repeating the talking points that conservative media have been drilling into them for the past eight years.
