WATCH: The Crowd Loses It As Elizabeth Warren Roasts Trump At A Graduation Ceremony
In this clip, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MASS) speaks at the commencement ceremony at Bridgewater University in Virginia. She regaled the crowd with tales of her own rise to success and to the prominent position she holds as a leading progressive champion in the United States Senate – and then laughs at the utter absurdities that this election cycle has produced.
“My own journey sounds too improbable, too full of mistakes and twists and turns and failures. I did not sit in the back room of my college graduation and think ‘whoa, next stop, United States Senate! Heck, on my day of graduation, I never imagined I would visit foreign countries. I never imagined I would be a commencement speaker…I never imagined I would get into a Twitter war with Donald Trump!”
Senator Warren has recently been the target of racist attacks from the presumptive Republican nominee, who cruelly mocks her for her Native American ancestry and attempts to belittle her historic accomplishments in the Senate, like the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the passage of the Dodd-Frank Act. She’s hit back with her own viral tweetstorms that appear to have put him in his place for now. There aren’t very many rock-star Senators out there – and we’re very thankful to have Senator Warren on our side.
