Watch: President Obama “Slow Jams The News” With Jimmy Fallon For The Very Last Time

In this clip from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, our beloved President Barack Obama takes the stage to take part in Fallon’s signature “Slow Jam The News” segment. To a smooth and mellow slow jazz beat performed by legendary Roots band, the President celebrates his long list of historic achievements over the past eight years.

“I’m proud of the many progressive steps our country has taken in recent years, both socially and environmentally. The United States has been a leader in developing clean energy to ensure the health of our planet for future generations. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, an additional 20 million Americans now have access to quality health care, and same-sex couples across the country now have a constitutional right to marry. In short, climate change is real, health care is affordable and love is love.”

The President then goes on to mock Donald Trump and the Republican Party for their perpetual dysfunction and for Trump’s resounding lack of qualifications to hold the office of President. “Thank you, Congress, for spending eight years wishing you could replace me with a Republican. Or, to put it another way, how do you like me now?”

It’s a tad painful, just because it’s a reminder of how much of a larger-than-life leader we have, how comfortable and safe we’ve been under his stewardship, and how much we’re going to miss him when he leaves office. Obama himself remarked on this, saying that he couldn’t run for a third term because “daddy has a Hawaiian vacation booked in about 223 days.”
