One of the most powerful U.S. senators has called for all intelligence agencies to deny Donald Trump access to classified national security briefings due to his mutinous calling for Russia to spy on Hillary Clinton.
The senior senator from Nevada, Harry Reid, who is the Senate Minority Leader said during an interview on July 27, “How would the CIA and the other intelligence agencies brief this guy? How could they do that? I would suggest to the intelligence agencies, if you’re forced to brief this guy, don’t tell him anything, just fake it, because this man is dangerous. Fake it, pretend you’re doing a briefing, but you can’t give the guy any information. This guy, he’s part of a foreign power. We knew he liked Putin before this, but this is quite ridiculous.”
Reid’s comments come in response to Trump’s plea for Russian assistance to help him steal the upcoming presidential election. The faux-billionaire said, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the thirty thousand emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens.”
Never before in American history has a presidential candidate blatantly called for a foreign government to intercede in an election, and all Americans should be rightly terrified of the implications. If Trump is willing to solicit the help of the totalitarian Russian government before he assumes office, just what do the American people believe will happen if he is able to twist the election toward his ascension to the presidency? With a variety of polls showing Donald Trump inching toward a dead heat with Hillary Clinton, this dystopian nightmare may just become a reality.
