In this eye-opening clip, firebrand conservative propagandist Tomi Lahren sits down with Trevor Noah of the Daily Show to discuss a wide range of issues in an eloquent back-and-forth. The debating talents of both personalities were on full display as they went toe-to-toe on a number of issues, from Donald Trump’s Access Hollywood tapes in which he admits to sexually assaulting women to the Colin Kaepernick anthem-kneeling controversy and to racial issues in America and Black Lives Matter.
Things got particularly tense when the subject of race came up. “I wish that we could disagree with each other without thinking we are bad people or ill-intentioned folks. Because I criticized a black person or the Black Lives Matter movement doesn’t mean I’m antiblack. It doesn’t mean I don’t like black people or that I’m racist” said Lahren. “To me true diversity is diversity of thought, not diversity of color — I don’t see color,” refusing to recognize how that common right-wing cop-out is nothing more than a delegitimization of the people of color as a whole – it’s an acknowledgement that you don’t see them as a person, because their color is inherently tied to their identity and personhood, and recognizing that minorities are people is the whole point of the Black Lives Matter movement. It’s right there in the name.
Tomi went on to complain about Black Lives Matter, saying “When that now becomes the narrative and you’re starting to loot, burn and riot: What did the KKK do?”
Noah replies, in shock: “Did you say, ‘What did the KKK do?…For somebody who is not racist, you have to spend a lot of time saying ‘I am not racist'”. You’re the same person who argued on your show that just because Donald Trump has supporters from the KKK doesn’t mean he’s in the KKK.”
