The FBI Director Was Just Implicated In Possible Trump/Russia Senate Investigation
Today, MSNBC’s Joy Reid spoke with Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV, no relation) about the recent bombshell report from the Central Intelligence Agency that confirms Russian government agents actively interfered in our recent elections with the complicity of Republican leaders. Senator Reid accused FBI Director James Comey of purposefully keeping this information from the American people, calling him the “new J. Edgar Hoover.”
Hoover was the radically conservative FBI director during the height of the anti-Communist hysteria, putting agents to ideological purity tests and orchestrating witch-hunt investigations in order to smear or disrupt potentially subversive political groups. The parallel is found in Comey’s appalling decision to announce a “reopening” of the Hillary Clinton email server investigation barely a week before the election, which gave right-wing propaganda machines the fuel they needed to dramatically alter the public’s perception of Clinton’s trustworthiness.
“‘I am so disappointed in Comey. He has let the country down for partisan purposes and that’s why I’ve called him the new J. Edgar Hoover, because that’s what I believe…I think he should be investigated by the Senate, I think he should be investigated by other agencies of the government, including the security agencies, because if there were ever a matter of security, it’s this. It’s clear. It’s so clear.
You look at the accounts we have just in the past…the last few days. It’s stunning, stunning, the conclusions reached by the press. This is not fake news. Intelligence officials are hiding connections to the Russian government. There is no question. Comey knew and deliberately kept this info a secret” said Senator Reid to Reid.
It’s been clear for months now that a major conspiracy was working behind the scenes from Moscow to Washington aiming to discredit Hillary Clinton and to put Donald Trump in the White House. The American people demand and deserve to know what really happened – and justice must be served before Donald Trump wrecks this country too severely.
