A Republican Congressman just laid out what healthcare will be like after President Trump guts Obamacare – and it’s just as horrifying as you would expect. Rep. Bill Huizenga of Michigan in an interview with MLive.com, decided to share the story of what happened when his son injured his arm one night. Instead of taking him for an expensive emergency room visit, he decided to wait till morning, because he didn’t know if it was just a sprain or not.
The boy’s arm turned out to be broken. Huizenga’s replacement for Obamacare is apparently “just wait and see.”
“There’s definitely going to be changes in the health care delivery system. We can’t just continue to squeeze providers to say this is how we are going to save money. It’s forcing health care providers … into some very different actions that in most people’s opinion is unhealthy” said Huizenga.
In reality, that “squeeze” on healthcare providers is translating into soaring profits for massive corporations, paid for out the pockets of hard-working Americans trying to keep their families healthy.
““When it [comes to] those type of things, do you keep your child home from school and take him the next morning to the doctor because of a cold or a flu, versus take him into the emergency room? If you don’t have a cost difference, you’ll make different decisions.
At some point or another we have to be responsible or have a part of the responsibility of what is going on. Way too often, people pull out their insurance card and they say ‘I don’t know the difference or cost between an X-ray or an MRI or CT Scan.’ I might make a little different decision if I did know (what) some of those costs were and those costs came back to me” continued Huizenga.
The point being made here is that you, the big spender American citizen, have to take responsibility for the outrageous prices charged by healthcare corporations for the care that you and your family need to stay alive. That is what the Republican Party offers you and your family: crippling debt and poverty for what Bernie Sanders properly declared was, and is, and should always be considered a human right.
