Twitter Just Erupted In Fury At Betsy DeVos Confirmation
Social media networks have erupted in fury at the news that Vice President Mike Pence has voted to break the Congressional tie and confirm billionaire religious extremist Betsy DeVos as our next Secretary of Education.
Entirely lacking any experience in public schooling or student loan management, DeVos bought her position by pouring millions of dollars into the war chests of Republican congressmen and Donald Trump’s Super-PACs. DeVos once compared her work in education to efforts to “advance God’s kingdom,” complaining about how public schools has displaced the church from communities and wants to use our public tax dollars to fund religious private schools for wealthy white students instead.
She has donated thousands to groups pushing for harmful pseudoscientific “gay conversion therapy” and other anti-LGBT causes. She doesn’t believe that special needs education accommodation should be required by the government, instead wanting to leave it up “to the states” while using your tax dollars to pay for it.
She is the worst possible choice and a clear sign of how in Trump’s America, all you need is lots of money to buy yourself a prominent cabinet position.
Here is a collection of America’s responses to the DeVos confirmation:
Betsy DeVos would not commit to upholding protections for campus sexual assault victims. 48 GOP Senators & VP Mike Pence said that's okay.

Future math curriculum:
If you have $200mil and need 51 votes, how much money will you have to give each Senator to buy their vote? #DeVos

Today's GOP lesson for students: you don't have to do your homework to be Ed Secretary. You just have to pay people to say you did. #devos

#DeVos is a living, breathing, example of "watch whiteness work." She has no skill, but has money & whiteness & is almost a Cabinet member.

Anyone with half a brain knows how utterly unqualified DeVos is. @senategop makes me sick. They need to put the country before themselves.

Just so we're clear, in the rest of the world there's a word for this: corruption. #DeVos pic.twitter.com/xNt3Fqn26I

For the GOP Senate majority, $4 million in donations from Betsy DeVos and her family spoke louder than the voice of 100ks of constituents

@SenateGOP thanks for spitting in the faces of your constituents with #devos. We won't forget in 2018

This is the face of a public school grad, from K to grad school. I got an excellent education & #DeVos will deny that to millions of kids. pic.twitter.com/UUwveZm8E8

Every Republican senator who isn't @lisamurkowski or @SenatorCollins should go home to their state, apologize to a teacher, and then resign.

On the bright side schools can save money on textbooks. All subjects can just use the Bible to explain everything! #Devos

The belief that people born into wealth deserve to be in charge of things is one of the most persistently damaging in human history #DeVos
