You Won’t Believe Where Trump Got The Idea That The Media Is Covering Up Terror Attacks

Today, President Donald Trump made the astounding decision to tell the United States Central Command that the media was ignoring terrorist attacks across the country and the world. ““You’ve seen what happened in Paris, and Nice. All over Europe, it’s happening. It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported. And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons, and you understand that.”

While it’s true that American media outlets do routinely ignore terrorist attacks that occur in Middle Eastern countries, the insinuation that they are ignoring attacks in the United States to propagate some kind of terrorist agenda is not only outrageously offensive but is a downright dangerous assertion. Not to mention that the entire room knew firsthand that the accusation was entirely false.

The Washington Post did a little digging and discovered that the source of this kind of lie is InfoWars, thanks to Twitter user @UrbanAchievr. The conspiracy theory website is run by Trump fan and deranged lunatic Alex Jones, who believes that Sandy Hook was a hoax and that the Obama administration was putting chemicals in the water to turn frogs – and presumably humans – gay. It’s like if the National Inquirer was merged with Breibart in a secret lab run by Hillary Clinton and her team of extraterrestrial lizard-men.

Trump is a big fan of the site and has actually appeared on the the Alex Jones Show. “Your reputation’s amazing. I will not let you down. You will be very, very impressed, I hope, and we’ll be speaking a lot. … A year into office, you’ll be saying, ‘Wow, I remember that interview. He said he was going to do it, and he did a great job” said Trump to Jones in December 2015.

Many of Trump’s favorite conspiracy theories originated on InfoWars, like the idea that millions of people voted illegally or that Muslims were cheering from the rooftops of New Jersey on 9/11 or that Hillary Clinton murdered several people. Politifact has already rated Trump’s terrorism claim “pants on fire.”

This means that the President of the United States just told a room full of our nation’s brightest military minds a conspiracy theory that originated from a crackpot internet site. The White House has just announced that they will be presenting the media with a list of unreported terrorist attacks, which should be… interesting, to say the least.

The schizophrenic and chaotic Trump administration doesn’t seem to know what it wants to do, but it wants you to be very afraid. From Kellyanne Conway fabricating a terrorist attack in Bowling Green, Kentucky that never happened to claiming an attack by Yemeni rebels on a Saudi ship was an attack on the United States by Iran, Trump and his team are desperately trying to foster an atmosphere of fear and violence while casting Trump’s principal enemy – the media and the independent judiciary – as complicit in threats to the United States.

He’s setting the stage to punish the media and the courts when an attack does eventually happen- or he arranges one himself, like his hero Vladimir Putin is fond of doing – and dismantle the foundations of our democracy. He wants to crown himself king – and we cannot let that happen.
