Earlier tonight, while debate in the Senate raged over whether to make Jeff Sessions the next Attorney General, Senator Elizabeth Warren tried to read a letter from Coretta Scott King on the floor of the Senate.
The three-decade old letter urged then-Senate leadership to reject the nomination of Jeff Sessions to a federal judgeship because he was too racist and fought against Civil Rights leaders in the South.
Sessions is facing heated opposition for his perceived hostility towards African-American voter engagement. Senate Democrats have vowed to fight his confirmation, and reading this letter detailing his fight against Civil Rights is part of that strategu.
Republicans, incensed, censured her and did not allow Warren to read the letter. So here she is reading it ago Facebook live a few minutes ago.
