Trump Just Put Putin On Hold To Ask The Dumbest Question Ever

President Donald Trump just revealed to the world what incompetent and ignorant fool he really is – again – and showed us just how his presence in the Oval Office puts the lives of millions of Americans in danger.

On a phone call with his role model and possible puppet master Vladimir Putin, dictator of the Russian Federation, Putin reportedly asked whether Trump would be interested in extending the 2010 New START Treaty, which sets limits for the size of standing strategic nuclear weapons forces.

Trump then paused the call to ask his aides what START was, according to Reuters.

He then proceeded to complain that the Obama-negotiated treaty was a “bad deal” that favored Russia and told Putin about how popular he was among Americans. Neither of those things are true.

START mandates that both the United States and the Russian Federation reduce their standing number of strategic warheads to 1,550 by February 2018 and sets limits for delivery systems like missiles and bombers.

It’s obvious that Trump is going into these phone calls with foreign leaders without receiving any briefings or bothering to prepare for them at all. Reuters reports that:

Typically, before a telephone call with a foreign leader, a president receives a written in-depth briefing paper drafted by National Security Council staff after consultations with the relevant agencies, including the State Department, Pentagon and intelligence agencies, two former senior officials said.

Trump did not receive a briefing from Russia experts with the NSC and intelligence agencies before the Putin call, two of the sources said. Reuters was unable to determine if Trump received a briefing from his national security adviser Michael Flynn.

The President is well-known for his dislike of intelligence briefings; he ordered his disastrous raid on Yemen at dinner and spent yesterday’s intelligence briefing tweeting about his daughter Ivanka and Nordstrom.

He has previously said that he only wants briefings““when I need it” because “I don’t have to be told — you know, I’m, like, a smart person. I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. Could be eight years — but eight years. I don’t need that.”

Trump’s stubborn and narcissistic confidence in his obviously deficient mental faculties is a very serious problem, not to mention an embarrassment. If the START treaty is not extended, we could be looking at yet another nuclear arms race and even more squandered billions on weapons we don’t need.

Since Trump has already proved himself to be a volatile and unpredictable man who makes impulsive decisions and responds emotionally to perceived threats or insults, his refusal to educate himself on the issues at hand drastically increases the likelihood of making terrible decisions in the heat of the moment.

The perpetually insecure Trump, who is obsessed with comparing the size of his…ratings, poll numbers, and other quantifiers, will almost certainly insist on “beating” Russia in an arms race. Our president is exposing himself as a fool and an idiot before the world and putting us all in danger.
