During today’s outrageous press conference, President Donald Trump was again asked about the rising tide of anti-Semitism in the United States, this time by an Orthodox Jewish reporter for Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
A belligerent Trump proceeded to shout him down before lecturing him on how he is the least anti-Semitic person in the world.
“SIT DOWN. Number one, I am the least anti-Semitic person you’ve ever seen in your entire life. Number two, racism, the least racist person.
Quiet, quiet, quiet. See, he lied that he was going to get up and ask a straight, simple question, so, you know, welcome to the world of the media. I hate even the question because people that know me, and you heard the prime minister, you heard Netanyahu yesterday, did you hear him, Bibi, he said, ‘I’ve known Donald Trump for a long time.’ And then he said, ‘Forget it. So you should take that instead of having to get up and ask a very insulting question like that.”
For the second day in a row, Donald Trump has been asked about the rising tide of anti-Semitism in the United States, and for the second day in a row, he has refused to promise to do something about it, condemn it, or even acknowledge that it exists.
Earlier today, a Florida man was arrested for planning a “Dylan-roof style” mass shooting, believed to be targeting a synagogue. Today also saw a bomb threat called into the Israeli consulate in Miami. Over 60 bomb threats have been made to 48 different Jewish community centers around the country over the past month as anti-Semitic graffiti shows up with disturbing frequency.
Trump’s rudeness is inexcusable, as is his refusal to condemn the anti-Semitism being perpetrated by his racist supporters and the hate groups that have been enjoying a perverse renaissance since his election. He is clearly pushing a white supremacist agenda that we cannot allow to to come to fruition.
