Facing a closely watched Congressional hearing on Russia’s influence on the Presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tried to distance the administration from its former campaign chairman Paul Manafort today.
Manafort resigned from the Trump campaign last August after revelations that he had acted as a lobbyist for pro-Russian Ukrainian oligarchs became too damaging to have him continue in his role guiding candidate Trump’s efforts.
Now Spicer is claiming that Manafort, who spent months overseeing the election effort and spearheaded the planning for the Republican National Convention for Trump:
“played a very limited role for a very limited amount of time.”
Spicer’s claims were so laughable that Twitter immediately exploded with some hilarious responses:
