A Twitter user just tried to troll ex-CIA agent and 2016 Republican Presidential candidate Evan McMullin – who has been critical of President Trump – with this tweet:
Please admit you are a democrat. https://t.co/JnSfVmJpmX
— Mercedes Schlapp (@mercedesschlapp) March 21, 2017
McMullin, in a rare display of a republican putting country over party, hit back:
I'm not, I just haven't traded away my values and integrity to defend Moscow and Trump's Kremlin ties. https://t.co/k4dvA0gZ2y

Just to clarify, this person charges McMullin with not being a republican because he hasn’t blindly supported the Trump administration. This is a perfect example of today’s mentality on the right. Republicans would rather watch Trump eviscerate all that the Republican Party supposedly stands for and turn a blind eye to the fact that their own democracy is in peril than admit any fault of one of their own.
In past months, Trump has criticized Meryl Steep, protestors, Arnold Schwarzenegger, judges, and the press – but never the Kremlin. And Republicans are supposed to be the party of patriots?
Let’s hope that more Republican leaders finally step up and denounce Trump, following the growing national trend of Americans jumping ship.
