A Republican Senator Just Ridiculed Women With Breast Cancer. Twitter’s Response Is Perfect

The disdain and disregard that Republicans in Congress show for the constituents was made painfully clear today when Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS), when asked whether or not he supported getting rid of the Affordable Care Act’s mandated essential health benefits, made this misogynistic joke:

“Essential health benefits” are the requirement that insurance plans cover basic things like ambulance services, emergency services, hospitalization, mental health, pregnancy care, prescription drugs, lab services, pediatric care for children, etc.

Such a callous remark shows just how little Republicans actually care for the American people. To Sen. Roberts, breast cancer is apparently a joke, because he doesn’t have to get them! Except even 460 men will die of breast cancer every year.

The glee with which these old white men are stripping health benefits that should be human rights away from the American people is absolutely disgusting.

His remarks quickly blew up in his face, however, as social media promptly dragged him for his insensitive remarks:
