Flynn Just Agreed To Testify Against Trump In Exchange For Immunity
The Wall Street Journal has just revealed that President Trump’s disgraced National Security Advisor, Lt. General Michael Flynn, has volunteered to be interviewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Congressional Intelligence Committees investigating Trump’s Russia scandal – in exchange for immunity to prosecution.
Flynn was forced to resign as National Security Advisor in February when it was revealed that he lied to the FBI about conducting secret communications with Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak concerning the lifting of the Obama Administration’s sanctions on the Russian Federation shortly after the election.
These communications were in violation of the Logan Act, since Flynn was still a private citizen and not a representative of the US government at the time.
Since then, it has been revealed that Flynn had been operating as a paid lobbyist for the government of Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who wanted Flynn’s help in extraditing Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen from his home in Pennsylvania back to Turkey.
Flynn also received nearly $40,000 in 2015 from the Russian government as payment for appearing at a 2015 party for the Kremlin’s state-run media outlet, RT. He was seated at the dinner right next to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, the mastermind behind both the hacking campaign against the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign and the disinformation propaganda campaign against the Democratic nominee.
Acting Attorney General Sally Yates warned the White House in January that Flynn was under the threat of potential blackmail by the Russians over those secret communications. When that warning leaked to the press, Flynn was forced to resign in disgrace.
Flynn retroactively registered himself as a foreign agent after his resignation, which means that he was both receiving payments from a foreign government and under suspicion of blackmail from a different foreign government while he was the National Security Advisor and privy to all our nation’s most classified information, all of which the Trump administration was aware of but did nothing to address.
This move by Flynn is a sure sign that he knows his goose is cooked, and he’s ready to start spilling the beans. Asking for immunity is tantamount to an admission of guilt, and Flynn is definitely as guilty as they come.
It’s unclear whether or not any of the investigative bodies will take his offer, since they might already have enough evidence to put Flynn away for quite a while, but with luck his cowardly move will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and blows the investigation into Trump and his campaign’s potentially treasonous collusion with Russian agents wide open.
