Comedy Central has announced the new show for its coveted 11:30 PM, post-Daily Show time slot, and it’s safe to say that we will be seeing some late night recaps in the form of White House Twitter tantrums. (Trailer below.)
The President Show stars the creator and renowned Trump impersonator, Anthony Atamanuik, and features Peter Grosz as Vice President Mike Pence. Like a traditional late-night talk show, the host will sit at a desk and bring comic spin to current events aided by a sidekick. But in this iteration, the desk will sit in set of the Oval Office, and the host and sidekick will inhabit the roles of President and Vice President.
Neither Trump impersonations nor Comedy Central are new for Atamanuik. He recently took his show, “Trump vs. Bernie” on a 40 city tour, resulting in an album that debuted at #1 on iTunes. He then co-hosted Comedy Central’s @midnight during a week-long “Trump Takeover.” Atamanuik’s Trump has been seen on The Howard Stern Show, ABC’s The View, and CNN Newsroom, as well as comedy clubs and festivals nationwide.
“Laughing at the President is a proud American tradition and we hope not to disappoint anyone in that department,” Atamanuik said in a statement. “But our political system is too broken for us to be content joking about one man, even though he is a disastrous silly little toddler boy.”
The President Show debuts on April 27. The trailer can be viewed below.
