At his much-anticipated meeting today with top Russian officials, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was asked by Andrea Mitchell about Russia’s involvement in Syria’s chemical weapons attack on civilians. Before Tillerson could answer, and even before Mitchell could finish her question, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov swooped in to save the day. (Video below.)
“Secretary, the Russians don’t believe the intelligence, how confident are you?” Mitchell asked.
“Who was bringing you up? Who taught you manners?” Lavrov snapped at the renowned journalist.
The room fell silent, and later, Lavrov told Mitchell, “You can shout now.”
Apparently, scolding a woman doing her job is how Lavrov was raised, and that seemed just fine for Tillerson. Surely, he and the rest of the Trump regime are relived to know that Russia has its back in its battles against American journalists.
